P. Baudin (Amerigo): “NEXUS and Amerigo International are benefiting from the combined weight of this new collaboration”
In the summer of 2025, the 2018-founded ITG and the world-leading trading group hit the headlines when they announced their cooperation agreement. The aim is to boost trade among members and unlock potential in emerging markets, particularly in Africa.
Amerigo International and NEXUS Automotive International are two potential competitors, yet they are joining forces! How will this benefit your respective organisations?
Philippe Baudin: The benefits are extremely simple: they are operational and shared. NEXUS Automotive is a major player in the automotive aftermarket. This partnership therefore expands our geographical presence to 145 potential countries. This means we have greater visibility and more business opportunities. Moreover, joining this community gives us, as NEXUS members, access to their catalogue and thus immediately increases our portfolio from 35 to 150 suppliers. For us, this is a tremendous accelerator for business development with our Amerigo International members. For NEXUS, integrating our members into its community represents the potential for 50 additional distribution partners. And that’s a geographical presence in 30 countries. The first building block of our partnership is being laid in Africa, where Amerigo International built its foundations and now has established positions. This is a real asset, as Africa is a very dynamic market, with each country having its own specific characteristics. Our African positions will therefore also strengthen those of NEXUS, via its dedicated structure IAMaga, whose DNA since its creation has been to target emerging countries and bring together players often overlooked by the ecosystem. These are also potential suppliers who may in future contribute to the NEXUS range of offerings. It is therefore a smart deal that benefits both parties equally, who will reap the rewards of the combined weight of this collaboration. All the more so as we remain completely in control of our own destiny. The existing agreements between Amerigo International and its suppliers will remain fully valid.
What form does this collaboration take?
P.G.: Today, operational staff are liaising to establish effective bridges. Like all NEXUS members, our members are already connected to the NEXUS system and vice versa. As part of this cooperation, we will work on all avenues for pooling resources between our two organisations, in terms of both transactions and innovation.
Apart from this landmark deal, are there any new developments at Amerigo?
P.G.: We are already represented in 30 countries, on the African continent but also in Asia, Latin America and, of course, Western and Eastern Europe. We therefore already have a vast global footprint. And, of course, we are always looking to expand into countries where we are not yet present, or not sufficiently so. We are also in discussions to further enrich our network in Europe. Overall, the EMEA region, where there is still potential for development, is very important to us. And while we had plans to expand our offering, the merger with NEXUS has largely fulfilled this objective! Today, we are focusing our efforts on successfully deploying this rich catalogue. Once we have digested this, we will of course start looking for new suppliers to meet the needs of our members.
